Because ineffiency is good, actually. It is easy to believe that doing things faster and more precisely is better--it saves time, after all. However, what does it mean to save time when the end is the means? If you write for pleasure, writing faster is much like eating faster. The parva inefficacia of the day are all that are left.


Start doing things wrong. Write your friend a letter; write an essay by hand; write a letter of complaint to your neighbour who keeps parking in your spot. That is to say, take some activity that you would ordinarily use a computer for, and replace it with a less efficient method. Keeping a journal is a good place to start.
